I lived just down the road from the Daly's in Romulus. Both my sisters worked there during high school and I hung around there all the time too. It's been a few years since I went back to Romulus but I see it's gone. Sad to see :(

I have been going to Daly's for over 50 years, started at one down in Detroit on Warren near the skating rink, been to the on that was on Grand River and Burt Rd, to Greenfield location and the Wayne Rd. Now I still go to the last one on Plymouth Rd. It is always got a crowd of people in it. I still love the food. If this one ever closes, it will be sadly missed

I spent many years at the Daly Drive-In on Greenfield just north of Joy Road in Northwest Detroit. I knew Harold Manning and would very much like to get in touch with Paul M Grabke to share some memories and photos.

I also just contributed my memories of Daly Drive-In #10 for a book to be published soon.

My email address is clubhistorian@comcast.net

I remember the dalys on Wayne and Palmer. They sponsored some GREAT softball teams. They were the arch-rivals of my dad's team: George Smith Realty, for whom I was the bat boy. It was not uncommon for 300 people to crowd the bleachers at the "flats" for a big game. When this upstart hamburger chain called McDonalds opened across the streetcirca 1970, folks thought the golden arches wouldn't make it competing with Dalys. Sadly, the opposite happened and Daly's closed a 30 years later.

My Grandfather Harold J. Manning and his wife Mary Jane owned Daly #10. I grew up with Daly Drive in in my whole life, as my father courted my mother there. I remember going to the Daly on Telegraph Rd. ( I think) with the fireplace in the middle, as we traveled from Toledo to go and see family in Detroit on weekends. I remember both my Grandfather as well as my Grandmother who is still alive working at the restaurant, and I still possess quite a bit of memorabilia. I will always be a Daly Burger lover!!

I grew up near Daly's Dearborn Heights on Beech Daly Road. Went there with family quite a bit. My Dad loved the Chili-Round. After that Daly's closed, everywhere we went he tried to custom order a Chili-Round. I took my mom to Daly's Livonia last year and it was a great time. We took a Chili-Round back to my Dad who was very ill and it was just about the last meal he ate. I wish I could have taken him before he got so ill, but thanks for the memories. Whenever we go, he's there with us.

Loved cruising the Daly's in Plymouth in early 1960's. Ate the Pig's Dinner there and got my name in the book. I wonder whatever happened to the book? I didn't eat any ice cream for months after that.

I grew up with Daly's I have visited every location, however I lived in Plymouth and visited the Daly's at Ann Arbor Road and Main Street many times a week from 1982 to 1987 until I joined the army. Cindy was almost always my waitress she always brought the coffee without having to be told that I wanted it, I remember Joyce a prep cook who just loved to visit with customers. Imagine my dismay when I return home in Nov of 2011 and there is a pharmacy where Daly's used to be. Many, Many memories there, I actually met Bob Segar there one day. Thank you Daly's for being a part of a great time in my life!
Dave.

Went to the Dalys on Beech Daly Road all through my high school years at Robichaud in the late 1980s. Now I live In the Upper Peninsula. I thought that all of the Dalys were long gone (as Ernie would say!), but now knowing that one still remains, I hope to stop in for a Dalyburger the next time I head to the Detroit area!

I remember going to the Romulus restaurant with my mom and sister quite often. Mom worked until 9:00 PM every night and many times she was just too tired to cook dinner. Many of our family meals were spent there.

Grew up in Plymouth and the weekend was not a weekend, without gathering at the Plymouth Daly’s, I remember the old place, if you didn’t get there early you didn’t get a seat. I remember when they closed the dining room down for remodeling. And Ruby,(night head waitress) as if it were just yesterday, when she would threaten to throw us out, if we didn’t stop being so loud!! And on the couple occasions when she did, man those were the days, 1960’s thru 1970 but then in the 90’s I made a trip thru Plymouth and no more Daly’s, man glad to see there is still one left…

Back in the late 50's early 60's always went to Daly's on Greenfield & Joy rd., even when I worked at the drive in on Joy rd called TWIN GIRLS TWIN TOWERS. Nick the Greek owned it. They had eat in,drive in, carry out and delivery. But Daly's was the choice of all teen agers.Wish I was young again

My sister used to drive me up to the Daly's in Plymouth. We always liked hanging out there, I am still not sure why we didn't go to the one in Livonia, which is much closer. Great memories!

This was the BEST place to hang out, see and be seen. Robichaud HS alum still meet there. Miss the one on Beech Daly. We have to traipse all the way out to Livonia, but it's worth it.
