Born in Plymouth, I grew up at Daly's until I moved away at the age of 6. I learned how to use a straw at Daly's on a strawberry shake. Up until 5 years ago when my mother sold off my grandmother's property, she still went back throughout the years. My mom was the lady who came in with the jumbo cooler and the tin foil rolls and had you fill it up with Chee Chee burgers to take back to the burbs of Chicago.

Been eating Daly Burgers since the mid-1960s, usually at the Dalys on Plymouth Road just west of Merriman in Livonia. In high school (1965-66), we used to hang out at Dalys (the drive-in part), and cruise from there down Plymouth Road one mile to the Big Boy's (at Plymouth & Farmington) and make the loop. Have eaten at the eastside Daly's, the one out in Plymouth and the one near Rouge Park and the original one on Beech-Daly. My wife & I still like their original burgers with the steamed bun and the ketchup-relish sauce. Glad there's still one Daly's left -- my old high school hangout, at Plymouth & Merriman.

Donna Whaling Stapish

My mother, Mariann Whaling worked at Daly 1 and brought me on board there when I was 13. Roughly about 1970. I later went on to work at Daly 7, in Romulus in the mid 70's. Oh, the memories! My kids grew to love the food just as much as we did. We now live in Tennessee and greatly miss it! No one has a Dalyburger or Daly Footlong!

Daly had a drive in location in Plymouth Michigan on the corner of Main Street and Ann Arbor Road that my family use to eat at. We loved many items on the menu but our all time favorite was the "Hamdinger"! I would love to have one again. Is it possible to get the special sauce recipe?

My mom and sisters use to take me to Daly's on W. Warren in Dearborn after school. I was in elementary school at Koscisuko Elementary back in the late 1960's. After they we moved to Westland where I went to the Daly's on Wayne Road. I have also been to the one in Livonia, and frequented the one on Greenfield near Joy Road where I use to work.

I live in FL now, and would give just about anything for a Double Dalyburger.

My husband and I used to go to the Daly's on Wayne Road when we were dating (1970-1974). Then after getting married and pregnant (1975) I craved Daly burgers and root beer floats with chocolate ice cream daily. Did'nt eat them that often but sure wanted to. Now we go to the one on Plymouth Road in Livonia and to this day I still order the Daly burger. Some things never change.

I grew up four blocks from Daly's Drive on Wayne Rd. Chee Chee burger is the best and the chili fries. My whole family ate there once a week. My dad would park then sometimes the speaker wouldn't work, Dad would be angry but pull to another spot we would all laugh. Then after our two trays of food it was forgotten. Many great memories at Daly's...

I crave a Daly Burger often! Wish it wasn't such a long drive to Livonia from Springfield MO, I'd get a Daly Burger now. Wonderful to see they are still open after all these years.

Fondly remember when Daly Drive-in #1 opened. I was 14 at the time. It was originally a frozen yogurt stand. Best hamburgers ever. Three or four times a year, four other Roosevelt High School alumni and I meet at the Livonia location to reminisce. Was very disappointed when the last one on Beech Daly near Powers closed.

My grandma (Eunice Lord) and my mom (Donna Boelter) both worked at Daly's. I ate many, many lunches, dinners and snacks. I filled the ketchup bottles on the weekends, made hot dog boxes and talked to a lot of people. Please if you remember my mother, grandma please email me.

I remember working as a waitress and as a car hop at the original Daly for Bill I. and then moved to the new one on McDonald. That is also where I met my husband in 1958. This is so great.

I lived in the Wayne Mi area when I was young and our family enjoyed the Daly burger. The car hops would come out and take our order. An awesome hamburger and milk shake. I haven't had one in years. It would be nice to have another one someday.

Oh my gosh! This web site has made me smile. So many good memories... I couldn't wait to get a car of my own so I could cruise the Dearborn Daly on Telegraph, near Oxford. Excellent food and truly the place to be and be seen. I thought these restaurants were all gone, but now that I know there's one left, I'll be there. Can't wait to eat a real burger!

My parents did much of their dating there in Wayne (1959-1961)! My earliest memories are at the Dalys in Livonia. When I was 4, I licked the top of the salt shaker. My mom was mortified as she gave the shaker to a waitress for washing. When I was 6, I was eating an onion ring (without chewing it much) and it got stuck in my throat. Again my mortified mother blushed deeply as I pulled it right back out of my throat. I was forbidden to eat onion rings until I could do so properly ;-) I loved the red checkered tables, the individual juke boxes (which I miss by the way), and the delicious Daly burgers. I loved the Dalys in Plymouth the best because of the Fireplace! But I go to the only one left in Livonia every chance I get...Going tonight on my own date as a matter of fact!! Maybe history will repeat itself!!

LINDA (DICKINSON) PEARCE

I went to the Daly on Beech Daly as long as I can remember. Now Roger St.Antoine and I go to the one in Livonia every year when we come from California.

ROGER ST.ANTOINE

I lived on Currier, close to the original Daly. Moved to California in 61. Every trip back I would go from the airport to the Daly and call my sister in Livonia and she would ask "which Daly are you at?" Roosevelt & Robichaud grads still meet there.

Met my husband at the Daly Drive In in Lincoln Park where I was a car hop from 1966 - 1967. Remember Wally Watkins (owner), Pat, Clara, Marlene Salsbury and Wendy Hackmier, (friends & fellow carhops) very well. Still go to the Livonia Daly after all these years for a taste of memories. I have several pictures of the old gang that used to hang out there. Glad to see you can get their Daly sauce there now. Sandy Birkett (was)

Grew up near the Greenfield and Joy Rd Daly in Detroit, and used to cruise Dalys, Speedys on Greenfield and Big Boys at Grand River and Greenfield regularly in the early 60s. Great memories in a red MG convertible eating melted cheese and chilis (now you can them Chee Chee Burgers) wrapped in wax paper for 29 cents. Now I still frequent the Livonia Dalys with my 86 year old Mom and 43 year old son: 3 generations HOOKED!
